Updating multiple rows in sql server

I have seen your previous tips (Export data from SQL Server to Excel and Different Options for Importing Data into SQL Server) related to working with Excel and SQL Server data.

The main command used in one of the tips is OPENROWSET.

In my experience, when large tables are being banged on for inserts, updates, and the like, my correlated subqueries perform so much poorer than cursors. ----------------------------------------- YOUR CODE ---------------------------------------------------------DECLARE @Mob ID as varchar (7)DECLARE @Serv Num as char (9)SELECT @Mob ID =(SELECT MOBID FROM inserted)SELECT @Serv Num = (SELECT Service Number FROM inserted)----------------------------------------- SUBSTITUTE WITH THIS CODE----------------------------------------DECLARE @Mob ID as varchar (7)DECLARE @Serv Num as char (9)CREATE TABLE #TEMP_INSERT ( @Mob ID as varchar (7), @Serv Num as char (9)  INSERT INTO #TEMP_INSERT ([MOBID],[Service Number])SELECT [MOBID], [Service Number] FROM inserted SELECT @Mob ID =(SELECT MOBID FROM #TEMP_INSERT )SELECT @Serv Num = (SELECT Service Number FROM #TEMP_INSERT )DROP #TEMP_INSERT -----------------------------------------and leave the remainder of your code in tact OK, still no luck but am looking into looping through each record using cursors.

Many of the situations end up translating to INSERT, UPDATE or DELETE code in one or more of our SQL Server databases. Mullins Views are a very useful feature of relational technology in general, and Microsoft SQL Server specifically. They are wonderful tools that ease data access and system development when used prudently.Between the shared and exclusive locks, there is the update lock (U), which can be thought of as an in-between mode between shared and exclusive locks. The main purpose of the update lock is to prevent deadlocks where multiple users simultaneously try to update data.
